This weekend was so packed full of things that I’m going to have to blog about it, because I don’t want to retype all the details over and over, and it’s too much for twitter.

Saturday started out so great. First we went with Lindz to the big plant sale at the Civic Center, where I got a couple little rock garden plants to put in a little vacant planter that I have, then we went and got some shoes and hit a comic shop because Saturday was Free Comic Book Day! Lindz had a thing to do so she took off and we went home, had some lunch and then went around to a few more of our favorite local comic venues, and came back with quite a haul. We had a huge stack of the free comics, and a smaller but equally awesome stack of things that we had purchased. Than got RASL 2, I got the first hardcover Lenore collection and Hellboy: Bride of Hell, and we snagged a bundle of the first 5 Enders Game comics for 5 bucks (20 dollar value). I don’t normally buy Orson Scott Card’s stuff since I found out what a huge douchenozzle he is, but I love love love Ender’s Game, and at least we didn’t pay full retail!

After we got home Than napped, and I got ready big party in Over the Rhine, the first annual Burner Ball which was a benefit for The Koi Pound. It had a prom theme so we had gone to goodwill and I found the perfect prom dress that actually fit and looked great on me (3 bucks! woo!), and we got dressed to the nines and I got to go to a prom with my dream date! The party was fun and we saw a few people we hadn’t seen in forever, so that was quite awesome. Here we have a scan of our “Prom Pic” after I tweaked the colors in photoshop a bit. (It was a point and shoot cam and then printed on a lil photo printer, but it was 2 bucks and otherwise there would be no pics at all) No your eyes do not deceive you, the trim on my dress IS pink

The night took a turn for the worse though. After the party was over we went out to go home only to find that some asshole had taken a VERY LARGE ROCK and bashed at our door a few times before hurling it through the window. Aside from the copious amounts of damage done to the car they got away with an old ipod, the ipod and iphone chargers and the iphone mount that Than had JUST gotten. They also ripped the cable out of the tape adapter. This morning

Than took picks of the damage with his iPhone, which you can see here:

OTR Rock Assault

The worst part was that it had been raining all day, and it was threatening to rain again. Than was trying to get on the phone with his insurance company and I was using his old army blanket to try and clear the glass from the front seats when the people at the KOI Pound came out and found us like that. They were so nice, they took us back to the pound so that the car could be cleaned out in their garage, out of the rain. They provided a shop vac and lights and Melissa and Grimm gave us vodka and we got to see their place, which is amazing. So many lovely people. Part of the night was spent outside by the big bonfire watching people spin sticks and hoops and poi with pretty colored lights, until the Big Rain hit and then we took shelter in the hooka lounge and listened to lovely ambient techno. That place has such a wonderful vibe, I’m kinda hoping to see more of it.

We didn’t get home until after 5AM (don’t worry, most of the vodka was consumed by me, not Than, so he was safe to drive)

Sunday was supposed to be a cleaning day, and then we were going to meet Hito at Highland, but it rained ALL DAY and we were still pretty drained from the drama of the previous night, so instead we were huge lazy lumps and spent all day reading comics, doing the NYT Sunday crossword and playing scrabble on our iThings.

Today Than is home so we can get the car stuff squared away. He did finally get hold of his insurance guy and got the name of the place to take the car to, and he does have a loaner clause so we won’t be without a car. We even have insurance to cover the theft of our possessions, assuming they don’t find a way to screw us.

So that’s it, our weekend in brief.

You ever have those times when you remember some fun time you had way back when and you really miss a particular friendship you had back then but you are pretty sure you will never truly have it back and you kinda know why it fell apart but really you don’t know why for sure because things got so jumbled up for a while and you’re pretty sure there were a lot of misunderstandings but it’s been so long and you don’t want to bring it up again because you already tried and it didn’t help but damn you really wish things hadn’t gone wrong because it really was a good friendship?

Yeah.. me too.

Today Than built me a light box. (I helped!)

Specifically one of these. I had one before that we had made from foam core board and tissue paper, and it worked like a charm for taking photos of jewelry and other small things. Of course that flimsy thing did not survive the move from Clifton to College Hill. This one, made pretty much exactly like the one in the aforementioned link, is much sturdier. I don’t have the worklights like that guy does, I use desklights with natural light bulbs in them for now. Someday I will get the proper lighting but this still does not do a bad job! So for my ASAD I post a couple shots that I took while testing out the new lightbox.

The first shot is of one of my new(ish) boots with one of a pair of knitted spats on it. I just finished that one today so it could be considered an ASAD in and of itself. What actually makes this fabulous is the fact that under normal circumstances my camera (a nice snapshot cam but not a professional grade by any stretch) does not like the color red. With my new lightbox and a small tripod I was able to get a shot of the spat with an accurate representation of the color. This is a Big Deal(tm) for someone like me who loves the color combination black and red so very very very much.

The second is the same necklace I’d posted about earlier in the month, but an actual good shot of it with nice detailing. It could have used a good cleaning before I shot it, but for a quick test shot with minimal post processing this is a HUGE improvement over my webcam

So there you have it…

Well, in messing about with my websites I managed to accidentally delete that last post, so let us try this again shall we? I feel bad because there were some very nice comments on there, and they were really appreciated! Blarg.

For my ASAD the 24th I submit for your approval this photograph taken by a friend and edited by moi. It is a photo of the corset I recently made and have gone on about ad nauseum, but the ASAD is in fact the photoshopping job itself, which was in fact done quite quickly and therefore I feel is rightfully to be called a scribble.

I’ve got LivePress working great so now I should be updating both my website and my LJ from now on. At least until LivePress breaks with the next update of WordPress. I think I still have to make LJCuts manually.. I suppose that is not such a huge sacrifice. I don’t put up many posts that require them. I do try to be considerate with the LJCuts though, unlike soooome people on my friendslist

I suppose I should re-learn how to make a custom “skin” for my site again. I do hate using a prefab theme when I have all these mad skillz of my own. I have so many other things to do these days though. It gets difficult to properly prioritize them sometimes.

We celebrated our 1st anniversary in Evansville, Indiana in which we saw Keryn and Morgan, had sushi with them and also birthday girl Glenda and her JP, played and won (JimmyThan and I as a team) a game of Cranium, had breakfast with Panda, hung out at Panera bread and then Barnes and Noble with Rachel, Josh, David and Ian, and had a nice Zombie Jesus Day dinner with Keryn, Morgan, Glenda, JP and… 2 girls whose names I never caught. Unfortunately we had to end ZJD dinner early as we needed to get back on the road for home, but the whole damn weekend was a blast.

I’ve taken up beading and it is awesome. Hoping to make a few dollars off of it at some point.

Profit.. er I mean.. there isn’t really anything else I can think of.

Pictures!Taken by Keryn, these are our anniversary pics. The hat rocks! We got that at the antique mall in Eville. I made the necklace and earrings.

and another beaded necklace bit that I’ve done, in an effort to improve my craft…

And that is all you get for now

b’bye

I really do need to start posting things as they happen, so as to avoid these looooong posts encompassing multiple events, wherein I manage to forget half of what I wanted to post about.

Note: for those of you who are not aware, My family, myself and most of Cincinnati refer to Nathaniel as ‘Than’, so when you see me talking about Than, that is to whom I am referring!

First there was Christmas, which came in several parts.

The christmas pics are all located here.

We had a housemate xmas, short and sweet. We gave Bardi the essential Johnny Cash songbook, and Chris the WoW quest hat, we received 20 dollar gift certs from Best Buy (Which we bought PS2 games with!) and a new waffle iron (ours had taken a turn for the worse and burned up some perfectly good waffles) Thank you muches to Bardi!

We had a little personal xmas, we opened our gifts from/to each other and the ones his family sent. He received from me a very nice steel mandolin slicer, he gave me the green velvet shirt I’d drooled over and a silver train case. (perfect!) His parents sent an awesome 3D puzzle of a working grandfather clock, a toolbelt that fits over a bucket, some turtle paraphenalia (…) for me a pretty pair of earrings, a carved wooden mouse for my computer monitor (computer mouse, get it? hahahaha) along with some adorable little songbooks that Than had made as a kidling, which I have to say was my favorite present of all. I love those mementos of the early years His sis sent him two pairs of skushy socks and a really spiff cell phone case. (I stole a pair of the socks, my feet are so toasty now!) His Gram sent a fabulous tape measure with a laser level in it, and… a bronze.. turtle. So thanks go out to the Walizer clan for their part in making it a special holiday season! We had fun picking presents for his family, made even more fun due to the fact that I don’t know them well yet (I’m sure this will be rectified in the future ) For his mom we found some lovely hand painted ‘Curious Chickens’ boxes, from Thailand, for his dad, a gorgeous leather bound wine journal, for his sister he picked out 2 movies from her Amazon wishlist and gave her an Amazon gift cert. Fun!

We had a christmas with my family, we all met up at Thomy and Christina’s house where we spent many hours eating good foods, drinking delicious gin and tonics, playing guitar hero and later a rousing game of euchre. Opening presents was a real event this year, the tree was jam packed with goodies. The two little ones made out like bandits, of course The present list for them would be too long to begin to list, suffice it to say that santa was very very good to them! We received a few choice tidbits ourselves, not least of which was the camera Mom gave me to replace the camera of mine that I’d lost earlier in the year. She rocks Than got an awesome rotating cheese grater, and a 3d tick tack toe game. Mom also gave me a sweet little purple velvet makeup brush and manicure case which will make a lovely little girl geek toolkit, a rad CD case, and a makeup brush holder that fits nicely in my new train case. My brother Thomy also picked out several kick-ass sets of chopsticks for Than (great job with that!) For my mom, I made her a pretty purple velvet scarf with silver fringe and little silver bead details, as well as a carousel horse music box from the San Francisco Music Box company. To my dad we gave the Friends edition of the Scene It trivia game. Considering I have 4 brothers and all of us 5 have significant others this year, we decided to once again do the not-so-secret santa style gift exchange between us, and through the powers of chance we ended up with Matt and Scott’s names. For Scott I agonized over what to give him.. I wanted it to be something just for him that he could have fun with, and ended up picking out a remote control helicopter. He loved it, btw ^_^ Matt’s was easier. He and I share a love for dragons, and I know he enjoys reading, so the dragon bookends worked out well! Overall it was a fantastic time, I love you guys very much!

Did not get to see Chance or Cameron for the holiday, they ended up spending it in Michigan, so will get to give them their gifts probably this coming weekend. Well.. at least Cam’s computer anyway Chance is getting cash this year, I just wish we could find a way to give it to him in person!

The final leg of our christmas season was spent on the 28th, when we had a nice dinner with Joe and Barbara. We had actually planned on having it on christmas day, but due to an interesting mixup between the time dinner started and how many people would be there, we missed it. Still, leftover turkey sandwiches followed by irish coffees (which went over very well, I was proud of myself!) and scottish ginger biscuits along with a really awesome stolen that Barb had, made for a fabulous post-xmas dinner. Between the food and the conversation I could not have asked for a better evening. We even brought them some cute irish coffee mugs that we found at World Market so we could do the irish coffees properly.

Sooo that was Christmas, and that was the SHORT VERSION!

*pant* *pant*

Then there was New Year’s Eve

New Years trip pictures here!

We decided to head to Evansville, I wanted to do something fun that was not at home as I’d spent the last 2 NYEs. Than agreed and Evansville was the place of choice since I’d met so many of his friends there already and honestly there has not been a time I’ve gone there with him and not enjoyed myself thoroughly, and that includes the time we went and I had an abscessed tooth and was in agony for a good portion of the trip.

We brought Dita and Kitty out to spend the time with Panda and Hito, coz we are cool like that!

We stayed this time with Heather (tentacularone) and Peter, along with their awesome silver cat Bishi.

Highlights included:

-Meeting Rachel and Josh, and their visiting friend, ugh.. names? Mike or Dave? (SORREEEEE! I suck so bad with names!)
-Meeting Sparky(sparkythejester) finally!(Hi Sparky!)
-Sadly not meeting the Best Roommate Evar! David, but having him consent (over the phone) to give me this fantastic dress form (because they had two and it was too big for Rachel to use) which is adjustable and is going to make my sewing so much easier!
-Getting to eat at Jimmy Jengs again! -YUM-
-Finally getting to eat at the Acropolis.. oh hell yes
-Hanging with Noah, Panda, Hito, Kitty and Dita at different intervals over the course of the weekend
-Karaoke with DJ Sparky (Pics here)
-Partay at Heathers, involving Karaoke Revolution, Arkham Horror, and.. what was it called? Fuck This? A card game that teaches profanity AND grammar! Woot!
-Meeting more people at party.. sucking at remembering names again, but there was not one person there who was not fun and awesome
-Lots of delicious champagne and lots of midnight kisses from my super hot boyfriend ^_^< /br>

So, to summarize.. OMFGYAYAWESOMEHAPPYFUNWOOT!

*collapses*

Now I am looking forward to a nice, quiet, chilled out few months to recover from all that fun
